Eli Trast, a senior civil engineering major at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville from Green Bay, Wisconsin, was recently honored with the 2022 Outstanding Senior Civil Engineering Student Award by the America Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Wisconsin Section. The award recognizes civil engineering students in their senior year who demonstrate excellence in engineering, academic achievement and service to the profession.

Trast is a member of the UW-Platteville ASCE student chapter and held the offices of vice president in 2019 and president in 2021. He has also been co-chair for the annual golf outing in 2020 and 2021 and the executive chair of the 2021 ASCE Virtual Concrete Canoe Competition. Trast’s hard work in leading preparations for hosting the National Concrete Canoe Competition attracted many other student members to help out. His efforts resulted in UW-Platteville being an official host of the virtual competition.

“It feels good being recognized for all the hard work that I have put into the UW-Platteville ASCE student chapter,” said Trast. “I could not have been successful in all the events I helped plan and positions I have held without the help of all the other students, mentors and colleagues that have helped me on my way.”
