The Presto Foundation recently furthered its commitment to University of Wisconsin-Platteville engineers with its renewal of funding for the Presto Engineering Scholarship. Established in 2012, the scholarship awards mechanical, industrial and electrical engineering students $13,200 each year. Since the scholarship’s inception, The Presto Foundation has awarded more than $700,000 in scholarship funds, through the UW-Platteville Foundation, benefiting 23 students. Recipients can renew the scholarship each year if they meet the academic criteria.

“The Presto Foundation strongly believes in promoting the progress of science and the useful arts,” said Doug Frederick, President of The Presto Foundation and Chief Operating Officer of National Presto Industries, Inc. “A quality education in the field of engineering is integral to such endeavors and can lead to advances in technology enriching the quality of life for many people. It has been and continues to be a privilege to support engineering students with scholarships at UW-Platteville.”

Bethany Rozof, a sophomore mechanical engineering major from Sussex, Wisconsin, said the Presto Engineering Scholarship has allowed her to be more involved on campus.

“The Presto Foundation Scholarship has been extraordinarily helpful in improving my college experience,” said Rozof. “The scholarship has allowed me the freedom to not worry about having an on-campus job to pay for college, which helps me focus on my schoolwork. Not having a job while being in school also allows me to participate in several clubs on campus. I have been involved with the Pioneer Makers Club, I was a mentor for the FIRST Lego League kids at the local primary school in Platteville, and I am now the secretary of the Pioneer Catholic Club on campus.”

The Presto Foundation is the charitable arm of National Presto Industries, an Eau Claire, Wisconsin-based manufacturer of housewares and small appliances. The Presto Foundation is a nonprofit created in 1952 to foster and promote charitable, scientific and educational aims.
