New interactive map helps UW-Platteville students, staff navigate construction projects
Good news for UW-Platteville students and staff as they navigate campus construction this fall: Facilities staff have developed a new interactive online map with real-time project updates.
Users can click on the map to see what projects are underway, completion dates and whether sidewalks, building entrances and parking lots are open.
Facilities Planner Ciara Miller launched the map in March using software skills she learned while earning her undergraduate degree in geography from UW-Platteville in 2017 and her master's degree in regional and urban planning from UW-Madison. The map is a huge step up from old-school diagrams, she said.
"There's a real benefit in it being real-time," Miller said. "If we have an elevator outage or building access is disrupted, we can get that out there immediately. As folks are coming back to campus and maybe they've been gone for the summer and see stuff they didn't know was happening, they can find out."
