University of Wisconsin-Platteville Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Tammy Evetovich, who becomes the university’s interim chancellor on June 1, announced that Dr. Wayne Weber will replace her as the interim provost and vice chancellor when she assumes the chancellor role.
Weber has served as the dean of the College of Business, Industry, Life Science and Agriculture since 2011. He came to the university as a biology professor in 1997 and became the department chair in 2002. During Weber’s tenure, the College of BILSA has added such things as a cadaver lab, new branch campus degrees, Dairy Innovation Hub, Boebel Hall renovations, Russell Hall lab expansions, and a physician assistant program with UW-Madison that begins in 2023.
“I am thrilled Dean Weber has consented to join our leadership team as the interim provost,” Evetovich said. “His extensive academic and administrative leadership experience and his commitment to innovative solutions, finding cross-disciplinary collaborations, and providing high quality, accessible learning opportunities is clearly evident. I am confident that he will be an advocate for all students and academic disciplines and will continue to expand on UW-Platteville’s mission to promote the transformative power of education.”
Weber stated, “I’m excited to work with interim Chancellor Evetovich, across colleges, governance and other aspects of academic affairs. We have so many talented people and I look forward to working with them in this capacity. Additionally, I am excited about collaborating with the other vice chancellors and areas across the university as we continue to move UW-Platteville forward in a positive direction.”
In addition to the interim provost announcement, Evetovich and Weber have named Dr. Charles Steiner to serve as the interim dean of the College of BILSA. Steiner had been serving as assistant dean of BILSA as well as the director of Pioneer Farm. He joined the UW-Platteville faculty in 2007 as an agribusiness professor.
“We’re excited to have Chuck Steiner in the interim dean role,” Weber said. “He has provided outstanding leadership for Pioneer Farm as director and the college as assistant dean. We’re looking forward to his leadership as interim dean.”
