Experts share COVID-19 information at virtual panel event

Nearly 150 tri-state area residents listened to a panel of experts at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville discuss the latest information regarding the coronavirus and vaccines on March 11. “The COVID-19 panel was a major success,” said Dr. Wayne Weber, dean of UW-Platteville’s College of Business, Industry, Life Science and Agriculture and organizer of the event. “The encompassing expertise of the professional panel provided important, current information regarding the SARS-CoV-2 virus, variants and the current state of vaccine mobilization in the region. The panel also provided a venue for the public to ask questions and receive insightful responses. In short, it was really informational and impactful. We’re really excited that we were able to bring this opportunity to the community.”

The panelists included Dr. Ryan Haasl, associate professor of biology at UW-Platteville; Jeff Kindrai, director for the Grant County Health Department; Dr. Chris Mayne, UW-Platteville alumnus and associate professor of biology at Viterbo University; Dr. Lauren Prister, assistant professor of biology at UW-Platteville; Mike Roy, a retired professional with 50 years of experience working in the field of infectious diseases, with 30 of those years spent developing vaccines; and Dr. Jeff White, a physician at Medical Associates.
