Headliners announced for Welcome Back concert

Country breakout artists Mitchell Tenpenny and Chris Lane will take center stage at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville’s Welcome Back concert on Monday, Sept. 2. The concert will be held in Williams Fieldhouse with doors opening at 6 p.m. Tickets are currently on sale for the public.

Tenpenny’s single “Drunk Me” is Platinum-certified number one and has had more than 200 million on-demand streams. He’s also being called the 2019 artist to watch by Country Music Television and was nominated for a 2019 Academy of Country Music award for new male artist of the year.

Lane is known for his hits of “Fix,” “For Her” and “Take Back Home Girl” which became his third Gold-certified single in a row. He’s launched two albums “Girl Problems” and most recently “Laps Around the Sun.”

Ticket sales are underway online at the University Box Office. General admission tickets are seated or standing in the fieldhouse grandstand. Premier tickets are standing with early admittance. Premier tickets purchased before Aug. 31 are entered into a drawing for random meet and greet passes with one or both headline artists.

The early bird special ends at 11:59 p.m. on July 14. General admission ticket prices will then be $33 for UW-Platteville students and those under 18, $38 for adults. Premier pricing is $53. Prices will increase on Aug. 31.

The annual Welcome Weekend to UW-Platteville offers events and activities for new and returning students, helping them to explore campus and the community.

Some of the previous Welcome Weekend concerts have featured acts who have gone on to stardom, including Lady Antebellum, Mike Posner and Sick Puppies, among others.
