Brooke Fredrickson
Internship: Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Green Bay, WI
My duties included invasive species management, habitat restoration and management, plant and animal inventories and monitoring, fencing and boundary marking, and trails and infrastructure maintenance. Additionally, I was given the opportunity to travel to several State Natural Areas where I learned, identified, monitored, and managed some of the rarest habitats and associated plant/animal species in Wisconsin.
I had conducted conservation work before this internship, but it was very rewarding to work in familiar areas that were very close to where I grew up in Wisconsin. I am grateful for all that I learned along with the meeting of new people and connections
