Construction Career Day gives students exposure to the different career opportunities within the construction industry. Students will experience hands-on activities, and the opportunity to network with construction professionals and UW-Platteville faculty, students, and alumni. Students will also be given the opportunity to experience what a real construction site is like. The event is geared towards ninth–12th grade students, but all are welcome.

- Explore how 2-year, 4-year, apprenticeships, and certificate options in the trades can lead to a great career.
- Enjoy working with college students, touring campus, and meeting construction professionals and Pioneer Pete.

By utilizing our mobile demonstration trailer, individuals are given the opportunity to view a sprinkler head activation by use of live fire. Additional education is provided explaining basic sprinkler system operation, components, and design, as well as the opportunity to engage with industry professionals on further questions and discussion.

Kraemer North America will be conducting a workshop on structural bolting, which will demonstrate tension vs. torque, as well as showing a life-size mockup of a steel truss joint. You'll have the opportunity to watch a demonstration on how bridge piers are built in water using cofferdams.

This hands on demo includes opportunities for students to see how electric and gas utilities are constructed and operated.
