NOTE: Test-optional Policy

As of May 7, 2020 new freshmen applicants may select to be test-optional for their admission review. 

  • The test-optional policy is in place for applicants seeking admission for fall 2020 through summer 2022 terms. If you would like to learn more about having your application reviewed as test optional, please contact admit@uwplatt.edu.
  • For students that choose to forgo the use of a test score as a part of their admission review, additional focus will be placed on the high school grade point average and course rigor throughout the high school record.
  • For students choosing to include test scores in the admission process, high school students are advised to take the ACT or SAT in the spring of their junior year and have the official results sent to the Office of Admission.

Admission Guidelines

All applications receive a comprehensive review.

New freshmen are likely to be admitted to UW-Platteville Richland if they rank in the top 75% of their class and successfully complete the following college preparatory units.

  • 4 units English
  • 3 units Mathematics
    • One unit of Algebra
    • One unit of Geometry
  • 3 units Natural Science
  • 3 units Social Science
  • 4 units of electives to include courses from the above areas, foreign language, fine arts, computer science, or other academic areas

Application Process

To apply to UW-Platteville Richland as a new freshman, please submit the following:

  • UW System Application
  • $25 application fee (summer 2020 and beyond)
  • High school transcript, GED, or HSED
  • Transcripts from all colleges and universities attended (if applicable)
  • ACT or SAT score (see Test-optional Policy)
    • ACT school code: 4634
    • SAT school code: 1662

If selecting to have a test score used in the admission decision, unofficial ACT/SAT scores and high school transcripts are accepted for admission consideration. Official scores and transcripts are required prior to the advising/registration program.
