The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Richland has a rich tradition in athletics. Roadrunner teams compete in the 13-school Wisconsin Collegiate Conference in women’s basketball and volleyball and men’s basketball. Since the first year of competition in 1967, Roadrunner teams have won numerous championships and many athletes have been named All-WCC and All-State.
UW-Platteville Richland offers a wide array of health and wellness programming and activities, including an active intramural program, club soccer program, and open gym activities. Management positions are available to members of team support groups.
In addition to the facilities in the campus gymnasium, enjoy a membership in the Symons Recreation Complex on campus. There you’ll find a 25-meter indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna, racquetball courts and a fitness center. An additional $33 per semester fee covers weight training. Simply show your UW Colleges UCard at the door.
Varsity sports practices are usually scheduled after 4 p.m. Plan classes accordingly, if participating.
Athletes must be cleared by a physician before they practice or participate in varsity sports programs. Forms are available from the athletic director. This medical certification is good for two years. Students who plan to participate in a fall sport should return the completed form to the coach before practices begin.
UW-Platteville Richland does not provide health insurance coverage for injuries and accidents incurred in the gymnasium during instructional, intramural or varsity sports participation. Participants should be covered by a family or personal policy. Information on student health insurance policies is available in the Solution Center.
Intramural sports provide opportunities for fun and fitness during the free hour of the weekday.
Basketball and volleyball games are held in the gym, as are many physical education classes. The facility also features a weight training room, locker rooms and a lobby/trophy room. Outdoor sports facilities are nearby.
