The recent George Floyd killing has brought the issue of racial injustice within our society to the fore. This series will open up a space for the UW-Platteville community to learn about historical, structural, and systemic issues related to race and the criminal justice system. Series contributors include scholars, experts, and field practitioners, each offering deep insights into the issue and providing suggestions about what we as a society and as individuals can do to effect change. The series fits within UW-Platteville’s long tradition of developing innovative “beyond-the-classroom” opportunities for student learning and helping the wider community to better understand such significant moments of social change. The series also fits within the broader democratic tradition of working towards a more just and egalitarian society for all.
