Mindfulness Research Study

Mindfulness and Math Anxiety Study

If you experience math anxiety and would like to learn how to manage your anxiety, you are invited to participate in a research study on the effect of mindfulness on math anxiety in college students. The study is primarily intended for individuals with high math anxiety.

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a non-judgmental awareness of experiences in the present moment. This study will provide an introduction to Mindfulness for Beginners (Kabat-Zinn, 2012) that involves several basic exercises to train awareness and attention to breathing and posture.

Time Commitment

Participation in the study involves meeting once a week for 6 weeks and daily mindfulness practice. If you are interested in participating in the study, email your name, year in school, major, and math anxiety level (low/med/high) to shivericks@uwplatt.

Participating in the Study

We will contact you in approximately 2 weeks to give you more information about the study. If you have questions about mindfulness or would like to know more about the study, please contact Dr. Shiverick in the Psychology Department.
