Biography

Dr. Patrick Hagen serves as acting assistant provost at UW-Platteville.  Hagen returned to Platteville in July 2016 after serving for 5.5 years as campus executive officer and dean at the University of Wisconsin-Richland. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Hagen led the Humanities department and taught in the German program for 14 years.

Dr. Hagen oversees the Karrmann Library, the Office of Institutional Research, and the Office of Campus Governance. He also leads the Academic Review and Policy Team, manages student academic appeals, and coordinates assessment activities. In the area of academic program review and development, he serves as the provost’s liaison to the University of Wisconsin System.

During the 2017-2018 academic year, Dr. Hagen looks forward to working on projects related to general education and program array.  He will also participate in the AASCU Becoming a Provost Academy.

Biography

Dr. Chanaka Mendis serves as acting assistant provost and is entering his 14th year at UW-Platteville. Prior to his current appointment, Dr. Mendis served as the Assistant Dean of Faculty and Staff Affairs for two years in the College of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science. Prior to joining the Department of Chemistry faculty in the fall of 2004, he earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C in 1999. 

Dr. Mendis oversees the School of Graduate Studies, Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP), Teaching and Technology Center (TTC), high impact practices, and faculty/staff professional development. Additionally, he is working on projects directed at digitizing faculty/staff annual evaluation, institutionalizing new faculty learning communities, providing support, programming, and planning for faculty professional development and creating a robust academic plan.
