About
My research and teaching interests include philosophy of law, philosophy of language, ethics, and history of philosophy. My primary research focuses on the methodology of jurisprudence. It encompasses several themes of broader philosophical interest: the nature of concepts, the credibility of intuitions as evidence, the role of ordinary language in philosophizing, and the status of necessary truths in changing social institutions such as law.
My work is ultimately concerned with the question “What can philosophy accomplish?” as well as the scientistic tendencies in the current intellectual and cultural atmosphere. My secondary projects in law and ethics are then trying to give a more concrete sense of what, and how, philosophy, as a humanistic discipline, can contribute to human understanding.
