Educational Background
Dr. Schmitt earned her doctorate in Government and Public Policy at the University of Arizona in 2020. She attended Saint Norbert College in De Pere, WI for her undergraduate degree.
Dr. Schmitt's research examines voter evaluations of elections between two women candidates. As a political psychologist, she seeks to understand why voters make the choices they do. Dr. Schmitt's work has been published in the Journal of Women, Politics and Policy, The Forum, The Oxford Encyclopedia of LGBT Politics, and the Cambridge Handbook of Experimental Political Science (forthcoming). Dr. Schmitt teaches several courses, including Introduction to American Government and Political Psychology.
