Professional Experience
Dr. George Krueger is Professor of Marketing and has taught at UW-Platteville since 2006. He has worked in large and small businesses including 20 years of experience running sales and marketing operations for Fortune 50 companies. He has extensive experience in small business marketing and consulting. He specializes in e-marketing, integrated marketing and sales classes in the School of Business at UW-Platteville. 

He was appointed as UW-Platteville’s Teaching Fellow to the 2016-2017 Wisconsin Teaching Fellows and Scholars Program where he conducted a research project on the use of a concept map teaching tool. He launched the UW-Platteville Student Chapter of the American Marketing Association in 2011 and is the current advisor. Dr. Krueger was awarded the 2015 Society for Human Resource Managers HRM Excellence in Education Award and was selected for the 2020 Thomas and Lee Ann Lindahl Teaching Excellence Award for demonstrating high teaching standards and a commitment to students. 

His research interests are in the areas of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) and microbusiness marketing. He has published and presented his SoTL research and recently published a book Marketing Your Really Small Business: A Guide to Marketing With No Time, No Money and No Expertise based on his research in microbusiness marketing. 

Dr. Krueger has a varied and extensive marketing background that covers three decades and ranges from small business marketing to developing and implementing multi-million dollar marketing campaigns for Fortune 50 companies. 

He worked in the economic development field for seven years as Executive Director of the Platteville Area Industrial Development Corporation where he was responsible for all sales and marketing activities. During this time the tax base more than doubled and the number of jobs increased in the Platteville Industrial Park. He also was elected to the Wisconsin Economic Development Association board of directors along with the Mid-American Economic Development Council board of directors and served as treasurer for both organizations. He also served as president of the board of directors for the Grant County Economic Development Corporation.

Over span of 21 years Krueger worked in the animal health industry for major companies such as SmithKline Beecham (now GlaxoSmithKline), Pfizer (now Zoetis) and Schering-Plough (now Merck). He started as a sales rep in the Midwest and ended up at the peak as Vice-President, North American Livestock with sales responsibility of $180 million. He managed through three major mergers and acquisitions. Krueger developed and implemented strategic plans, was involved in acquisitions, executed turnarounds, launched new products, led day-to-day sales and marketing operations, and developed leaders/managers. His most notable accomplishment was leading the growth of the Schering-Plough U.S. Livestock Business Unit from $30 million to $150 million in sales in five years through business restructuring, people development, expanding current product lines, launching new products and a major acquisition. 

He has direct industry experience in each of the classes he teaches which is combined with thorough subject matter knowledge and an enthusiastic teaching style. Krueger is also a member of the American Marketing Association.
