Dr. Rea Kirk, EdD

Dr. Kirk earned her Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California, her Master of Science in Counseling from the University of Montana-Billings, and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with minors in American History and Education, with an emphasis in intellectual disabilities, from the University of California-Los Angeles.

Dr. Kirk has been a professor of special education at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville for 21 years. She is part of the Interdisciplinary Program Council, the Women's and Gender Studies Program Council, and the Ethnic Studies Program Council, as well as co-advisor for Kappa Delta Pi.

Dr. Kirk has been a reviewer for one of Kappa Delta Pi’s international journals for over ten years and has just been awarded the Regional Chapter Counselor of the Year. Some of her other honors include Underkofler Alliant Energy and UW-System Excellence in Teaching Award; UW-Platteville Outstanding Advisor to a Student Organization; Liberal Arts & Education Teaching Excellence Award; Phi Kappa Phi Excellence in Teaching Award; UW-Platteville Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence and UW-Platteville Woman of the Year.

She has been active in Faculty Governance, serving on the executive board a number of times. She has also been active on committees throughout campus.
