Biography

About

Dr. Edgington earned her PhD from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee in Urban Education with an emphasis on Mathematics Education, her Master of Science in Education at the University of Wisconsin – Platteville, and her Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Middle-Level Education at Illinois State University.

Dr. Edgington is an Associate Professor of Education in the School of Education and teaches courses on Elementary Mathematics Methods, Instructional Design and Assessment, and has taught a variety of other courses in the school of education.

Her research interests include the role of productive struggle in teaching and learning mathematics, pedagogical practices that ensure access and equity, and culturally responsive pedagogy in rural settings. Prior to joining the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, Dr. Edgington worked for 18 years in the Dodgeville School District, serving as a teacher, RtI Coordinator, and District Math Coach.

She is a member of National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), Wisconsin Mathematics Council, Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (AMTE), and NCSM. She currently serves a a Board Member for WI-AMTE
