Jason Artz has been working as a counselor at UW-Platteville for the past 6 years. He is twice an alumnus of UW-Platteville, with his undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice, and his master's in Counselor Education. During his graduate school experience, he was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to travel to Mississippi twice for service work - Hurricane Katrina relief in 2006 and Habitat for Humanity work in Jonestown, MS in 2007. Both of these experiences reiterated for him how important is for us to take care of each other in any way we can. Prior to working at UW-Platteville, Jason did in-home family counseling with primarily low income families in the south and southwest regions of Wisconsin. All of these experiences have taught him to be mindful of his privilege every single day. An area of counseling he really enjoys is teaching mindfulness and awareness to help people with stress management and emotional regulation.
