Permit Information

A University of Wisconsin-Platteville parking permit is required in all university parking lots except for the metered parking stalls. A sign located by each parking lot entrance designates the type of permit required.

Residence Hall Permit Parking is enforced 24 hours a day, 6 p.m. Sunday evening through Friday noon during the academic year.

Meters are enforced Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm. There is no parking allowed in any metered stall between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.  This includes ALL parking lots and meters on University Plaza and Circle Drive.

It is the driver's responsibility to ensure that the parking permit is properly displayed before exiting the vehicle. If the permit is not displayed, a parking citation will be issued for failure to display the appropriate parking permit.

If a permit holder forgets to transfer his/her parking permit to another vehicle, the permit holder will need to purchase a one day permit at the University Police Department.

A registered student is entitled to one moveable parking permit and one motorcycle permit. The type of permit is based on the student's residency while attending school. It is the student's responsibility to contact the University Police if his/her residence changes. A permit will not be exchanged unless the new address is confirmed through the Residence Life or Registrar's Office.

If you are having problems with any of the PDFs please make sure you have the most up-to-date version of Adobe Reader.

Placement

The moveable parking permit which hangs from the rearview mirror must be facing the windshield with the type of permit, number and symbol clearly visible. If you are unable to hang the permit from the rearview mirror, the permit should be laying face up on the driver's side dash, with number and symbol clearly visible.

Motorcycle and moped permits should be applied to the front fork and be clearly visible.  These may not be removed and placed on another cycle/moped.

Special notes concerning rearview mirrors and obstructed view

View: Wisconsin Administrative Code, TRANS 305.34(6) states that nothing may be placed or suspended in or on the vehicle or windshield so as to obstruct the driver's clear vision through the windshield. There may not be any posters, stickers or other non-transparent material, other than a certificate or sticker issued by order of a governmental agency, located on the windshield or located between the driver and the windshield. (If the moveable permit creates an obstruction for the driver, it is the driver's responsibility to remove the permit. It is also the driver's responsibility to replace the permit when parking in a university parking lot.)

Mirrors: Wisconsin Administrative Code, TRANS 305.26 states that all motor vehicles originally manufactured with an inside mounted rearview mirror and all homemade and reconstructed motor vehicles registered after January 1, 1975 shall be equipped with an inside mounted rearview mirror. The mirrors shall be maintained in proper working condition. No mirror may be broken, cracked, discolored, non-reflective or otherwise reflect an inadequate image. All mirrors shall be securely mounted on the vehicle.
