SPE Student Chapter
Hey Guys! It is your new SPE President here. I hope you all have had a great summer and continue to enjoy these last few weeks! Classes are quickly approaching and I hope you all are as excited as I am to get this year underway! There are just a few quick reminders that I wanted everyone to be aware of before heading into the start of the fall semester.
1. Incoming freshman and new students: Welcome to the UW-Platteville Plastic Department! We are glad you found us! Please like our facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/uwplattevillespe) to keep up with the latest announcements and come join us on campus in the fall!
2. The officers for this year are:
President: Alex Gasper - email@example.com
Vice President: Kyle Utecht - firstname.lastname@example.org
Treasurer: Kevin Martinson - email@example.com
NOTICE: Alex Gasper and Kyle Utecht are on co-ops for the fall semester so Ben Meyerhofer will be the intern President and Jeremy Joswig will be the intern Vice-President.
3. I have been working on this Plastic website that appears through the University website. The changes will up before school starts so please make sure to stay tuned for the updates!
Let’s make this year a great one guys. Start thinking about projects, research, inventions and innovating ideas that can be worked on this year. We have many tools and lots of equipment but more importantly we have a highly skilled and knowledgeable group of students here that can achieve great things when working together. If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact myself Alex Gasper, or one of the other officers.

WHY JOIN SPE?
Membership provides an excellent chance to meet practicing engineers and make valuable contacts. The technical meetings, tours, and literature provide information that will help in the classroom. The opportunity to list SPE on a résumé will demonstrate professionalism to potential employers. Membership increases your chances to get internships, scholarships and jobs. By becoming active with SPE you will have an opportunity to gain more hands on experience outside of the classroom. Your involvement with SPE will provide an introduction to plastics and will increase your overall knowledge of the plastic industry.
