passport basics

Student entering a building using their Pioneer Passport

Your university ID, or Pioneer Passport, is used for official university identification at the UW-Platteville campus. It is not transferable under any conditions and cannot be used by another individual at any time. Pioneer Passport cards are encoded with a unique UW-Platteville identification number that is used for security purposes and allows the user to setup a Passport Funds account to facilitate campus purchases. Faculty and staff accounts remain valid throughout employment at UW-Platteville. Because Pioneer Passports are expected to last the entire duration of your time at UW-Platteville, it is important that you take care of your card.

Please keep your Pioneer Passport in a protective covering. Bending the card can break the antenna thar runs the perimiter. There is also a chip in the upp left corner that is easily damaged. Refrain from trimming the edges, punching holes, scratching the magnetic strip, attaching key rings, or altering the shape of your card. Damaged cards will require replacement at the card-holder's expense.

Keep your card away from electromagnetic fields and equipment such as TVs and microwave ovens. Cards occasionally become decoded and must then be replaced at your expense at the Passport office on the second floor of the Student Center.
