Professional Experience
Dawn Drake's original career goal was to work in the area of human resource management, and she did this for about five years, mainly in the areas of recruitment/selection and overall human resource functions. She began teaching at UW-Platteville in 1987 and has been in love with it ever since. However, she has also worked in several other capacities, including instructional program manager, CQI Coordinator, Assistant Dean, and Director of the Distance Learning Center.

As the current Executive Director of Alternative Delivery Systems, Drake oversees all administrative aspects of distance and continuing education and D2L administration.  She is heavily involved with the accreditation process and the budget commission for the university and serves on numerous university committees.

Personal Information
Even after many years of working in distance and continuing education, Drake believes that it’s truly still as rewarding and challenging as it was for her on day one. She said it has been wonderful to watch the programs grow throughout the years and connect with students from so many areas.

Students who pursue their education are a true inspiration to Drake. Because education is such an important part of her life, she wants to make sure the Alternative Delivery Systems makes educational opportunities available to as many people as possible.

Drake is married to Tom Scanlan, a professor in Computer Science at UW-Platteville and has two wonderful daughters, who are both in college. They are also the proud grandparents of three amazing grandsons.
