Art program Mission

The Visual Arts Program at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville is dedicated to developing creative and critical thinking skills to prepare students for careers in art in a fast-paced, global culture. We achieve that end through high quality instruction with a curriculum that emphasizes visual art creation, art theory, art criticism, art education, and art history. The Visual Arts Program at UW-Platteville stresses the development of a broad working knowledge in studio art, graphic design, and art education that will prepare the student for an immediate career or future graduate study. We offer six different degree majors including a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.), a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) that can be completed within four years and two art minors to compliment your area of study:

ART DEGREES AND areas of concentration

The Visual Arts Program maintains a low student-to-faculty ratio, fostering an environment where professors get to know their students well and give individualized instruction.  Through a diverse curriculum, with requirements for coursework in two- and three-dimensional art and design, sculpture, ceramics, art history, graphic design, art education, art theory and art criticism, our program provides students with a well-rounded  education with unique creative vision to solve visual communication challenges.
