PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville’s Department of Geography will host Dr. Kenny Blumenfeld, a severe weather climatologist, blogger and film maker, this Friday, Nov. 21, at Steve’s Pizza Palace in Platteville at 7 p.m.

Blumenfeld will discuss the weather and climate of Southwest Wisconsin, including a discussion of the storms that spawned the tornadoes of June 16, all in the mood of a Pub Science talk that brings an informal environment to discussions of sophisticated topics. Dr. Evan Larson, assistant professor of geography at UW-Platteville, said this is an excellent opportunity for people to quench their thirst while feeding their curiosity about weather, climate and everything related.

Blumenfeld has a widely read blog,, and has been featured on multiple news programs and stages in the Twin Cities, Minn.

He will draw from a wide range of anecdotes about hail storms, tornadoes, lightning, straightline winds, blizzards and other severe weather phenomena.

Anyone interested in weather, storms or climate is welcome to attend.
