Education Abroad for Computer Science and Software Engineering

Why study COMPUTER SCIENCE AND SOFTWARE ENGINEERING abroad?

As the field of computer science and software engineering is becoming increasingly globalized and interdependent, the idea of a "local" company is quickly disappearing.  Computer science professionals must be able to understand and appreciate all cultures as topics, issues, and trends are increasingly multinational and multicultural.

By including an international experience in a UW-Platteville computer science or software engineering degree, students will gain the necessary skills to learn and work effectively in the academic world and in industry.  Studying abroad gives students the opportunity to take unique and challenging coursework and interning abroad helps students understand computing issues from an international perspective.  No matter the program, students will return with an improved world view on intercultural communication and problem solving.

Upon graduation, having international experience on a resume can also help distinguish applicants in the competitive job market.  It can help demonstrate a global perspective of the field and real-world issues, flexibility and adaptability, and knowledge of and openness to other cultures.
