Welcome to Morrow Hall
Morrow Hall, named after Homer B. Morrow and built in 1967, provides accommodations for approximately 68 women and 197 men. Morrow Field, a softball diamond, is located nearby. Starting Fall 2018, Morrow Hall will become the Sustainability Interest Community. One of the traditions in Morrow Hall is the annual service project: "Morrow Hall Works Week"!
From the Desk of the Resident Director
Happy October everyone!
My name is Olivia Kopecky and I am the Resident Director for Morrow Hall this year. This is my second year as a RD at Platteville and I have been exploring the area while biking this summer. I am originally from Webster, WI where I grew up on a hobby farm. I love to crochet, hike, cook, travel, go skiing, watch Netflix, and try new things. I am glad to see everyone back on campus and getting involved. I hope the transition has been smooth and exciting for you as we begin the year.
Here are some important pieces of information for you!
Friday Night Clubs: These happen on Fridays throught the year. Look at our FNC Bulletin Board by the front desk to see the details about the Friday Night Club happening each week. These events are free, fun, and on-campus!
Homecoming is October 8th-14th! Morrow will be competing against the other Residence Halls to win first place. For information about activities and how to get involved, talk to your RA and come down to Morrow's Hall Involvement Team meetings.
Morrow Hall Works Week: October 16th-19th is a week of volunteerism and service learning for residents in the community! Stay tuned for more information on times and locations of volunteer activities on campus sponsored by Morrow.
Fall Break is Friday, October 20th! Take the day off to recuperate and enjoy the crisp fall air. Maybe pick some apples? Or go see a pumpkin patch? Take a mini vacation!
Hall Involvement Team: Every Wednesday at 9pm in the Cave (Morrow Hall Basement) is a fun activity filled time hosted by the HIT Executive Board. We have interactive games, food, social opportunities, and a lot of fun every week!
Spring RA Positions: Applications for our spring RA positions become available October 9th. If you are interested in what it takes to be a RA, talk to your wing RA and they can give you all the details!
Safety Tip of the Month: Be an active bystander. There are various ways to intervene and provide assistance to others. Intervention can be as simple as saying hi to a person that seems to be in an uncomfortable situation. Not all intervention requires you to make contact with a potential perpetrator. A simple hello or acting like you haven’t seen a person in a long time, can break up the situation and allow an individual to leave. Most importantly, don’t assume that someone else will take care of it.
If you ever have questions, don't hesitate to reach out to your RA. Let's have a great year by getting involved!
