Exchange students studying at James Cook University (JCU) are responsible for organizing their own accommodation once in Australia. JCU does accept applications for on-campus accommodation, but space is very limited and placement is not guaranteed.
The JCU Accommodation office organizes a database of off-campus accommodation, and the accommodation options listed are privately owned and managed. Students can access the database and inquire about accommodation options upon arrival in Australia. Past program participants were able to meet other international students during JCU's orientation and secure housing together, and until then, temporary housing in a hotel or hostel should be arranged by the student.
