PASS upgrade project officially underway

The Pioneer Administrative Software System, a.k.a PASS, will be upgraded to the new version, Campus Solutions 9.2 by Fall 2017. The project, which officially kicked off in April after nearly a year of preliminary planning, collaboration, and upgrade work, will result in additional functionality and increased security for UW-Platteville students, faculty, and staff.

The upgrade will affect not only PASS itself but also all integrations such as with and customizations within PASS.  These include but are not limited to HRS, PASS Express, the campus directory, Pioneer Link, and College Scheduler.

The Information Systems and Reporting team is working on the setup of additional development, testing, and quality assurance instances with the new versions of the software and is working in close collaboration with the Campus Solutions 9.2 task force to ensure a smooth transition. The task force is comprised of directors (or their designees) of the key functional areas on campus. The task force communicates regularly with other PASS administrators.

Implementation of the new version is scheduled for late July (after New Student Registration).

Why is this change necessary?

The current version of PeopleSoft’s Campus Solutions application and the back-end PeopleTools used by the application will run out of support in the near future. In order to keep current, maintain existing functionality, and uptake new functionality within the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions (PASS) environment, the vendor (Oracle) recommends upgrading to the new supported versions.

Information regarding timeline, specific changes and potential training needs will be communicated throughout the summer.
