UW-Platteville Honored in MAE&T’S 2017 Guide to Colleges & Universities

December 6, 2016

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, a leader in distance education for more than 35 years, recently received a designation of Top School in Military Advanced Education & Transition’s (MAE&T) 2017 Guide to Colleges & Universities, which considers best practices in military and veteran education. The guide will be released this month and available online.

In the 2017 Guide to Colleges & Universities, MAE&T presents the results from a military-supportive policy questionnaire that was answered by hundreds of institutions, including private, public, for-profit, not-for-profit, four-year, and two-year colleges. No matter what kind of institution students are looking for, the guide arms them with information about community colleges, state universities, and online institutions that go out of their way to give back to men and women in uniform.

Now in its tenth year of producing this guide, MAE&T was the first publication to launch a reference tool of this magnitude for members of the United States Military. For the 2017 guide, institutes were evaluated on their military culture, financial aid, flexibility, general support, on-campus support, and online support services.

MAE&T’s Guide to Colleges & Universities provides the foundational information a prospective student would use in framing his or her educational needs,” said Kelly Fodel, Military Advanced Education & Transitions’ editor-in-chief. “We want to be a dynamic resource for those looking to further their educations and careers. A key part of that is finding the right school, and it can be a confusing process for military members to navigate.

“Receiving this military designation is an honor. It really acknowledges our commitment to providing a quality education to both our active military and veteran students no matter where they are located—across the country or on the other side of the world,” said Dawn Drake, executive director of UW-Platteville’s Alternative Delivery Systems.
