What do I need to know?

After the upgrade to Office 2016, you will need to re-pin applications to your task bar (e.g. Word or Outlook).  The upgrade process wipes the task bar clean. Likewise, any frequently-used files pinned to those applications on the task bar will need to be re-pinned. You may want to make a list of those files for your convenience later.

Where can I find information on Office 2016?

Thankfully, differences between Office 2010, Office 2013 and Office 2016 are few. Check out these vendor resources for further details:

If you would like to walk through the updates with a trainer, you may request a session via the ITS Training Request Form. If enough interest is expressed, small groups sessions will be scheduled.

Windows 10

At this time, Windows 10 is available in Software Center. If you would like to upgrade to Windows 10, simply follow the instructions for installing software found in the ITS Knowledge Base.  The process takes approximately 45 minutes. Items and applications pinned to the task bar will need to be re-pinned after installation is completed.

Going forward, all new and updated campus computers will come with Windows 10, except where prohibited.
