Biography

Hsing-I Ho currently holds the position of second flute with Orchestra Iowa as well as the position of principal flute with the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra. Before moving to Iowa, Hsing-I played second flute with the Omaha symphony for two seasons. As an active free-lancer, chamber musician and teacher, she is on the adjunct faculties of both the University of Wisconsin – Platteville and the Clarke University. Hsing-I earned her Bachelor and Master’s degrees from Temple University in Philadelphia where she studied with Loren Lind and David Cramer. She taught at Temple University Preparatory Division before moving to Chicago for a two-year artistic diploma program in orchestral studies with Mathieu Dufour. When she lived in Chicago, Hsing-I was a member of the Civic Orchestra. She had also played with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as a substitute musician in several occasions and had been a member of the Zephyr woodwind quintet, a group she formed with friends in Chicago. She had participated in several summer festivals including Aspen Music Festival and Texas Music Festival and her woodwind quintet was the semifinalist at the Fischoff competition. She is currently pursuing her doctor degree in musical arts (ABD status) at University of Nebraska-Lincoln with Dr. John Bailey
