Social Work Training Certificate

The Psychology Department has worked with the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services to create a listing of courses that will qualify psychology and criminal justice graduates to successfully apply for a social worker training certificate. Students must complete the following courses:

  • PSYCH 2930            Human Behavior in the Social Environment
  • PSYCH 4930            Techniques of Counseling
  • CRIMJUST 4530       Social Welfare Policy
  • PSYCH 4950            Social Work Practice with Groups and Families
  • CRIMJUST 4540       Social Work Practice with Communities, Organizations, and Institut.

In addition, students must complete a 400 hour CFE (internship) with a supervisor on site who has either a BSW or MSW and certification in the State of Wisconsin. Graduates holding the Social Worker Training Certificate must pass state and national exams before being certified as Basic Level Social Workers.
