Vita Plus Corporation makes lead gift
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – In honor of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville’s Pioneers Day of Giving, Vita Plus Corporation, a livestock feed production company headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, has announced a lead gift of $25,000. This gift will benefit UW-Platteville’s Dairy Science Faculty Fund, and Vita Plus will be honored at UW-Platteville’s Homecoming football game on Saturday, Oct. 14. Saturday also marks Celebrate Agriculture Day at the stadium.
“With our roots deep in Wisconsin soil and at the core of our business in dairy, investing in the Dairy Science Faculty Fund at UW-Platteville makes great sense,” Brian Vaassen, Vita Plus sales manager of Southwest Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois, said. “We believe education is vital whether it is increasing the knowledge of our producers and of our staff. Education helps the dairy industry make advances to meet the growing demand of dairy products.”
Industry partnerships were crucial in shaping the curriculum for the UW-Platteville dairy science major that launched last fall. This support from local industry leaders, such as Vita Plus, has continued with support of the Dairy Science Faculty Fund, established to assist the major’s growth and offer additional opportunities for students.
“In order for the industry to grow and in order for Vita Plus to serve our producers, we need top-notch students and future employee-owners to generate new ideas to push the dairy industry to higher levels,” Vaassen said. “We partner with universities to collaborate in new research initiatives looking for ways to promote science and use it to expand possibilities to improve the dairy industry.”
“We are very appreciative of this generous gift from Vita Plus,” Sandie Brick-Margelofsky, development officer for the College of Business, Industry, Life Science and Agriculture, said. “This gift will greatly impact the lives of UW-Platteville students for years to come.”
A check presentation will take place on the Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium field between the Homecoming football game’s first and second quarters with representatives from Vita Plus and UW-Platteville’s School of Agriculture. Kick off is set for 2 p.m.
