UWP Block and Bridle hosts Pioneer Showdown
PLATTEVILLE - Every spring, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Block and Bridle Club hosts their annual Pioneer Showdown at the Grant County Fairgrounds located in Lancaster. The 2006 Steer and Heifer Jackpot show will be held April 22-23. Pre-entries are due no later than April 8 and will only be accepted with the $25 per head entry fee. All cattle may arrive starting at 8 a.m. on April 22. A showmanship and grooming clinic begins at 11 a.m. with the steer weigh-in, and registration from 3-5 p.m. Promptly at 6 p.m. the Junior Showmanship contest begins. On April 23, the heifer show begins at 8 a.m. with the steer show directly following. The grand champion steer and heifer will each receive a $500 prize and the reserve champions will each receive a $250 prize. Breed champions and class winners will also receive awards.
The 2006 Hog and Lamb Double Jackpot show will be held on May 20 and is sanctioned by the Wisconsin Pork Association Show Circuit and the Wisconsin Club Lamb Association. Pre-entries are due no later than May 12 and must include the entry fee of $20 for one show or $30 for both. Weigh-in begins at 8 a.m. with the first series of shows beginning at 11 a.m. The grand champion hog and lamb will each receive a $200 prize and the reserve champions will receive $100 prizes.
