UW-Platteville hosts Morrison Institute of Technology students
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Industrial Studies Department recently hosted students from the Morrison Institute of Technology in Morrison, Ill. The institute is a two-year technical college with a focus on engineering technology.
Jim Prombo, a long-time supporter of UW-Platteville’s Industrial Studies Department, brought the group to visit campus. Prombo is the Career Placement coordinator at Morrison Institute of Technology and has brought students to UW-Platteville for eight years.
Dick Klawiter, a retired UW-Platteville professor of Industrial Studies for 36 years, met with Prombo when he first came to UW-Platteville to show his students the campus. Klawiter continues to meet with Prombo and give students a tour of campus, eat lunch with them and bring them to Russell Hall, where they receive information about the industrial studies program. The students are also shown the department’s laboratories, which include drafting and product development, safety, metal processing and welding, plastics processing, laser, wood technology, industrial controls and robotics laboratories.
“It’s important that we have these connections with other schools so more students are able to see what UW-Platteville has to offer as well,” said Klawiter. “I want the students who visit to feel comfortable here, know we care about them and are sincere in wanting them to be students at our university.”
