UW-Platteville again named tops in ROI
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. —For the second consecutive year, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville is the best higher education institution in the state for annual return on investment, according to PayScale’s 2016 survey.
“In the category of public colleges, your best bet is the University of Wisconsin-Platteville campus,” PayScale said on its website.
PayScale found that UW-Platteville is first overall on annual return on investment at 11.4 percent for in-state students and tied for second at 9.4 percent for out-of-state students compared with public and private institutes in Wisconsin.
“This report puts tangible numbers to things we have long known, that our faculty and staff inspire our students by their teaching and hands-on approach to learning,” Chancellor Dennis J. Shields said. “Our students are well prepared to not only enter the workforce but succeed at a high level. A UW-Platteville education today translates into business leadership tomorrow.”
UW-Platteville also ranks second on 20-year investments for in-state students and third for out-of-state. In-state alumni from UW-Platteville report a $515,000 return on their college investment two decades after graduation, and out-of-state students claim a $485,000 return. PayScale noted that four-year in-state tuition starts at $69,000 and out-of-state starts at $99,000. UW-Platteville ranks 117th nationally in terms of 20-year net ROI, the report said.
Celebrating the 150th year of its founding in 2016, UW-Platteville has almost 9,000 students, including graduate and distance education students. Its three colleges are the College of Business, Industry, Life Science and Agriculture; the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science; and the College of Liberal Arts and Education.
