Self image featured at Women's Center brown bag

PLATTEVILLE - A discussion on self-confidence and image, set for 12 p.m. Monday, March 3, is part of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Women's Center brown bag series. All events will be held in the Patricia A. Doyle Women's Center, located in Doudna Hall.

Moderator will be Roger Meyer, UWP Counseling Center director. Self esteem issues rank high in campus concerns, said Meyer. In a recent student needs survey, 40 percent listed self-esteem issues as important or very important, he said.

"Ten percent of our counseling sessions are directly concerned with self esteem and image issues," said Meyer. "It is the underlying issue in all cases of depression." Of UWP's Counseling Center's caseload, 25 percent dealt with depression, he added.

Other brown bag events include "Breaking the Glass Ceiling, set for 12 p.m. March 13, "Women's Health Issues" March 25 and "Laramie Project," March 26.
