Rock band Skillet to headline Welcome Back Fest concert
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – On Sunday, Sept. 2, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville will host rock band Skillet as the headliner for the annual Welcome Back Fest concert.
Skillet has been performing for more than two decades and has released 10 albums, two of which – “Comatose” and “Awake” – are certified Platinum and Double Platinum. The band earned two Grammy Award nominations and won a Billboard Music Award for “Awake.”
The concert will be held in Williams Fieldhouse and is open to the public. Doors open at 6 p.m., an opening act – to be announced at a later date – will perform at 7 p.m. and Skillet will take the stage at 8 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased at the University Box Office, located on the lower level of Ullsvik Hall, or online at www.uwplatt.edu/box-office/tickets. Early purchase discounts will be available through July 16. Prior to this date, general admission tickets are $15 for UW-Platteville students and $23 for the general public. Welcome Back Fest is part of UW-Platteville’s annual Welcome Weekend, which offers events and activities to new and returning students, helping to connect them to campus and the Platteville community. Past Welcome Back Fest concerts have hosted big names including Sick Puppies, Gloriana and Lady Antebellum. This year’s Welcome Weekend begins with move in day on Saturday, Sept. 1 and continues through Monday, Sept. 3.
