Music faculty kick off year with concert performance
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – To celebrate the beginning of the 2017-18 academic year, University of Wisconsin-Platteville music faculty and staff will perform in the fifth annual Faculty Gala on Friday, Sept. 29 in the Brodbeck Concert Hall in the Center for the Arts at 7:30 p.m. Following the concert, attendees are welcome to meet and talk with the musicians in the Center for the Arts lobby.
Each year, the concert combines the talents of the music department’s faculty and staff, who are renowned in their respective fields of specialization and are active performers throughout the United States and abroad.
“UW-Platteville’s Faculty Gala is an amazing opportunity for our current students, community members and prospective students to experience an incredibly diverse concert experience filled with world-class performers,” said Dr. David Earll, professor of low brass at UW-Platteville, who recently returned from a three-week performance tour in Europe. “Each individual member of our performing faculty actively perform throughout the region and the nation, and they often travel to perform internationally as well. The opportunity to see so many of these performing artists in one place at one time is a rare one, and showcases the UW-Platteville Music Program’s commitment to ongoing involvement and enrichment of our community.”
The concert will feature musical solo performances, ensembles and unique collaborations, including performances by Dr. David Cooper (trumpet), Hsing-I Ho (flute), Dr. Corey Mackey (clarinet), Dr. Keith Lienert (percussion), Becky Demaree (voice), Earll (tuba), Allen Cordingley (saxophone), and one of UW-Platteville’s premier faculty chamber music groups, Ensemble Nouveau.
The concert will close with several selections performed by Ensemble Nouveau, featuring Cooper (trumpet), Matthew Gregg (horn), Mackey (clarinet), Cordingley (saxophone), Earll (tuba), and Lienert (percussion).
