Dr. Dong Isbister is being recognized for her impactful work in Women's and Gender Studies, mentoring students and advancing inclusive education across campus and beyond.
The 2023-24 College of Liberal Arts and Education Faculty Forum Series will kick off on Thursday, Oct. 5 with the topic “Vision: The Noblest of Senses?” Dr. Douglas Adams, assistant professor in the School of Education, will be presenting, with Dr. Hilton Kelly, dean of the College of LAE, and Dr. Claudine Pied, associate professor of sociology, responding.
The College of Liberal Arts and Education Faculty Forum Series will start the year with a presentation on Thursday, Feb. 2 by Dr. Patrick Solar and Dr. Frank King, Jr., titled “The War on Drugs: Effective Crime Control or Racism in Action.”
The Department of Social Sciences recently announced awards highlighting outstanding student work and accomplishments, including the Outstanding Political Science Graduate Award, special recognition certificates for political science graduates and Outstanding Social Sciences Paper awards.
As Women's History Month wraps up, Dr. Dong Isbister, coordinator of UW-Platteville's Women's and Gender Studies Program, shares reflections on the history and future of the program, which just celebrated 50 years.
UW-Platteville will host a symposium, “Caregiving, Race, and Gender: COVID-19 Impacts on Women in Wisconsin,” on Tuesday, March 22 and Wednesday, March 23. The symposium, open to the public, is funded in part by a grant from Wisconsin Humanities, with funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
Mitchell Cotter, a junior political science major, is spending his summer gaining firsthand experience working with the Wisconsin State Legislature. Cotter is interning with Rep. Jodi Emerson, where he is contributing research related to current and future legislative proposals.
