Hubl to perform in The Foreigner

June 9, 2003

PLATTEVILLE - Playing a "redneck Klansman who is short on brains and temper," will be quite a stretch for brainy science guy Tony Hubl of Lancaster. Hubl has been cast to play Owen Musser in the Heartland Festival production of The Foreigner at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Hubl, a native of Boscobel, began acting as an extension of high school forensics.

"I enjoy the challenge of acting lines and the thrill of the performance," Hubl said. "I've been in theatre for 20 years now, in fact, I played the same role (Owen Musser) for former UWP professor Tom Goltry when he directed The Foreigner 10 odd years ago."

Hubl is no stranger to UWP either, having performed previously with the Heartland Festival and also as an alumnus - he holds a bachelor of science degree from UWP in biology. Hubl will not only be on campus for his performance in The Foreigner but also returns to UWP this summer as a full-time student.

The Foreigner will be performed at 8 p.m. June 13-14 and June 18-21, with matinee showings at 3 p.m. June 15 and June 22 in the Center for the Arts Theatre. Tickets for The Foreigner are $15 for adults and $8 for students and children under 18 years of age. Tickets are available from the University Box Office, 608-342-1298. Information on other Heartland Festival performances can be obtained through the Heartland Festival website at www.uwplatt.edu
