Forum to discuss tariffs, trade and Trump
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – On Tuesday, Dec. 4, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville’s School of Business will present a faculty forum, “Tariffs, Trade and Trump,” in Doudna 136 from 5-6:30 p.m. The panel discussion and presentation will feature:
- Kevin Bernhardt, School of Business
- Brian Peckham, School of Business
- Scott White, School of Business
- Travis Nelson, Political Science
- Shan Sappleton, Political Science
The forum will explore questions about fair trade and consider its moral and economic factors. Both the U.S. domestic and international perspective will be examined.
“I plan to discuss some of the basic economic and moral issues relating to U.S. commercial policy,” said Peckham. “I would hope, for example, that we can make some progress toward clarification of the concept of fair international trade.”
The forum will also discuss political impact on the U.S and its international relations and will look at the economic impact of the tariffs on international trade and the supply chain for America.
“The causes and effects of the Trump administration’s trade and tariff policies are both really complicated and really important,” noted Nelson. “They matter more to each of us personally than we might realize.”
The program is open to and designed for the general public.
