Field of Honor to join UW-Platteville campus
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – In honor of Veterans Week, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville’s Wright Center for Non-Traditional and Veteran Students will bring a Field of Honor flag display to campus. This display will feature more than 100 of 3-by-5-feet U.S. flags, each with its own custom dog tag representing a veteran who has served at home or abroad.
“We decided to bring this event to campus as a way to celebrate the veterans who are a part of our community,” said Doug Nimke, coordinator of the Wright Center for Non-Traditional and Veteran Students. “This event will help show how many veterans are part of our community.” Nimke added that he hopes for 150 flags to be a part of the field.
Anybody can support the Field of Honor by sponsoring a flag for a veteran they know. Once assembled, the field will be open for visitors to walk through and see the flags and dog tags up close.
UW-Platteville students, staff and faculty members can support a veteran in their own life by providing a $30 sponsorship for the display. This sponsorship provides participants with their own flag and custom dog tag added to the Field of Honor. Orders must be placed by Monday, Oct. 16.
UW-Platteville’s Field of Honor will be displayed on the West Lawn Monday, Nov. 6 through Friday, Nov. 10. For more information or to help assist with set up and tear down, contact Doug Nimke at 608-342-7596 or email@example.com.
