Deans named for Baraboo/Sauk County and Richland campuses
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville named deans to lead the campuses at Baraboo/Sauk County and Richland.
Ed Janairo, currently the campus administrator at UW-Baraboo/Sauk County, will be the dean at that campus, while Dr. Brandon Fetterly, the acting regional dean of Academic Affairs at UW-Richland and UW-Baraboo/Sauk County, will be the dean at Richland.
Those appointments take effect July 1 when UW-Platteville, UW-Baraboo/Sauk County and UW-Richland collaboratively integrate, pending Higher Learning Commission approval.
Janairo has been the campus administrator and Southwest Region associate dean for Administration and Finance since June 2017. He led the UW-Baraboo/Sauk County day-to-day operations and served as the local liaison to community leaders. Janairo has been heavily involved in the collaborative integration process, co-chairing the business and finance sub-committee.
Previously, Janairo was the dean of Business and Technology at Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland, Wisconsin from 2013-17. He also held leadership positions at UW-Sheboygan (2005-13) and the Council of State Governments in Lexington, Kentucky (1999-2004). Janairo also taught business and philosophy as an adjunct faculty member at several colleges.
“Ed has an excellent background that prepared him well,” UW-Platteville Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Joanne Wilson said. “He served as dean of a technical college, so he understands administration. He also understands budgets quite well. Ed welcomes the opportunity to build new programs and to work with Chancellor (Dennis J.) Shields to make business connections in the community with the UW-Baraboo/Sauk County campus.”
Fetterly joined the UW-Richland Chemistry Department in 2005, first as an assistant professor and then an associate professor. He served as associate dean of Academic Affairs in 2012-15 and as interim Student Affairs coordinator in May 2015. Fetterly was promoted to acting regional associate dean of Academic Affairs for both the UW-Baraboo/Sauk County and UW-Richland campuses in March. He is a former Wisconsin Teaching Scholar, selected by the UW System.
“Brandon has been a respected faculty member who also served as associate dean,” Wilson said. “He brings significant amounts of academic experience and leadership abilities into this position. He is excited to be part of the community and will do well at UW-Richland.”
Janairo earned his bachelor’s degree from Notre Dame, a master’s from Kentucky, an MBA from Morehead State and is completing his Ph.D. from UW-Milwaukee. Fetterly is a St. Norbert College graduate who earned his doctorate from Iowa State.
Wilson indicated both deans will be hiring assistant deans to assist with the day-to-day running of the campuses as they direct some of their attention to community relationships. Those positions will be advertised internally.
