PLATTEVILLE-As a volunteer track coach, children's tutor and church youth advisor, University of Wisconsin-Platteville December 2002 graduate Carinne Bryson of Darlington has not only shown a dedication to kids, but has proven herself to be a super senior.

Nominated for the UW-Platteville Alumni Association Super Senior/Honorary Life Membership Award by Dennis Pratt, interim director of University Placement Services, Bryson recently received a bachelor of science degree in elementary level education with a minor in early childhood.

"Carinne is very enthusiastic about education," Pratt said. "She's very creative in the development of lesson plans and programs for students in her classes and is really an outstanding teacher."

Bryson's teaching experience includes serving as an intern teacher for kindergarten and first-grade students at Gaston Elementary School in Beloit where she designed, developed and implemented a children's book and teamed with a mentoring teacher to give lessons in all subject areas. Bryson was also a preschool teacher at Gingerbread Preschool in Shullsburg and served as a practicum teacher at Darlington Elementary School and Neal Wilkins Elementary School in Platteville.

Her enthusiasm for kids goes beyond the classroom. Bryson has coached a variety of sports since 1999, including volleyball, gymnastics and track and field. She also volunteered to tutor a child with special needs and worked for the UWP Placement Services Office.

Following graduation, Bryson's plans include teaching at the elementary level and coaching volleyball, track or gymnastics.
