ALERT 11.17.17: Phishing attempt offers part-time job

The ITS Help Desk has received reports of a phishing message offering a part-time job with Core BTS. You are instructed to reply with a long list of personal information in order to accept the position. The message appears to come from one of the following non-campus accounts:

  • Kimberly Scott (gmail address)
  • Adman Smith (gmail address - 2 versions)
  • Robert Brian (outlook address)

What should I do if I receive this message?

  • If you receive such an email from the people listed above, please DELETE immediately.
  • If you receive such an email from another sender, please NOTIFY the ITS Help Desk.
  • If you replied to the message and provided your personal information, MONITOR your account for future emails claiming to be from "CoreBTS". Be sure to mark them as spam or junk and delete them.

Welcome to office 365

Here you have access to your campus e-mail, calendar, contacts, and tasks as well as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Online, Skype for Business Online (formerly Lync), and OneDrive (storage - like your J-drive).  To access your Office 365 account, click the orange E-mail Login button at the right. 

Set the correct time zone: (UTC-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada)

Pioneers should remember that ITS will NEVER ask for your password in an email - or through a link from an email. Never, ever.  SERIOUSLY.

  • If you receive such an email, please DELETE immediately.
  • If you clicked on the link and logged in, CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD IMMEDIATELY.

Free Microsoft licenses

Every UW-Platteville account holder is eligible to download up to five free Office licenses for their personal devices. These licenses are yours to use as long as you are employed with or enrolled at UW-Platteville.

Your Official UW-Platteville E-mail Account

UW-Platteville utilizes Microsoft Office 365 for its e-mail and calendaring needs.  Your Office 365 account is your official account at UW-Platteville.  All e-mail and calendar invitations sent from university departments and personnel will go to this official account.  If you choose to forward your Office 365 account to another provider, add the domain to that provider's trusted list to ensure you receive all important university communications.
