What We Did Over Summer Vacation

Summer is prime project time for tech staff.  Following is a small sampling of our accomplishments:

Office of Information Technology highlights:

  • Successful implementation of Business Intelligence!
  • Rolled out the new reporting tool, OBIEE (Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition)
  • Trained 109 employees how to run or create BI reports in 10 workshops; held three BI “brown bag” demonstrations
  • Trained 88 more content stewards how to create web pages in the new CMS in 15 workshops
  • Issued over 1600 new passwords to incoming freshman during New Student Registration; collected 2,892 text responses during our NSR presentation to better understand students’ technology needs and expectations
  • Closed 3,985 support requests between May 20 and August 30, an average of 54.5 tickets per business day
  • Produced a campus technology video for new employees in collaboration with MTS

Media Technology Services highlights:

  • Equipped new or renovated classrooms (Russell Hall 122 and 130; Doudna Hall 141, 129; Ottensman Hall 129, 129a, 124)  and conference rooms (Pioneer Tower 159 and  Karrmann Library 438b)
  • Completed Phase 1 of cable television infrastructure migration from hard line to fiber
  • Installed cable television in Bridgeway Commons; also installed digital signage in dining area and equipped a high-tech meeting room
  • Replaced projectors in 27 locations across campus
