Web Transition Project Update
The UW-Platteville Website Transition Committee continues to work towards a comprehensive, updated website.
Among recent actions, the committee voted to:
*Create an interactive communications page for faculty and staff to review updates, find links to new live pages, and post questions about the project. To learn more, visit and bookmark this page: http://www3.uwplatt.edu/web/website-transition-project.
*Expand the pilot programs to include a campus calendar as well as six faculty sites. Two faculty members from each of the three colleges will be asked to create three pages: a department homepage, a staff directory and a faculty page.
*Address the targeted audiences. Using a best-practices method by studying approximately 50 collegiate websites, the committee defined the seven main audiences as: prospective students, donors/alumni, business and industry, faculty/staff, current students, visitors and community outreach. The committee noted that some audience members (for example parents) will fit under more than one category. Navigation will be implemented with the core audiences in mind.
Each of the subcommittees--design, navigation, policy and communication--meet weekly, with the entire steering committee meeting bi-weekly. The next Website Transition Committee meeting is set for Tuesday, Nov. 6.
