ITS shares BI vision at annual state meeting
On July 30 Sue Traxler (Assistant Vice Chancellor for IT/CIO), Robert Flum (Interim Director of Information Systems & Reporting), and Mark Haag (Business Intelligence System Administator & Application Developer) traveled to the Pyle Center on the UW-Madison campus to present at the annual Business Intelligence Core Team meeting. Invited guests included Chief Information Officers (CIO), Directors, and Business Intelligence Analysts from all of the UW System colleges. The focus of this year's meeting was examining options for replacing the current Hyperion Interactive Reporting software throughout the UW System.
Sue and Robert presented Fulfilling Reporting Vision with OBIEE at UW-Platteville, an overview of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville's current business intelligence processes, including Oracle Business Intelligence (OBI). Robert and Mark followed with a software demonstration (Implications of a Move from IR to Common Information Model: What leaving Interactive Reporting means for data models) that provides attendees with an in-depth view of OBI. The demonstration included viewing operational detail reports and strategic analytical dashboards, the analysis creation process, the three levels of the repository within the Administration Tool, and BIPublisher reports. The presentation was interactive with a lot of questions and audience participation. Both presentations were well received.
